V. George Rustigian Rugs, Inc.
2001 Oriental Rug Retailer of the Year
In July 2001 Rustigian Rugs was honored to share with World of Rugs in Florida the award for Retailer of the Year in the category of Specialty Store by AmericasMart in Atlanta, Georgia.
Wholesale dealers from California to New York submit nominations for the award in a variety of retail categories in the 50 states. These include catalogues, furniture stores, department stores, designer showrooms and oriental rug specialty stores nationwide. Nominees are then asked to submit for review promotional materials including print, voice and TV ads as well as written descriptions of their store's profile, marketing strategy and operational methods.
The Judges make their decisions based on information provided and in 2001 the Judges were positively impressed with both the innovative marketing programs and the level of community involvement characteristic of each nominee. Both stores made concerted efforts to give back to the community in a variety of ways and had made civic involvement a significant segment of their core identity.
Rustigian Rugs is very involved with non-profits such as the Rhode Island Donation Exchange Program where Roz Rustigian is currently a Board Member and former Chair. 2009 Rhode Island's Best Green Floor Covering
Rugs crafted of natural fibers are not only Earth-wise, they're also beautiful. And what choices! Stand-out companies like Merida produce dozens sisal, grass, New Zealand wool (some of which are woven right in Fall River). Still, Capri's cork tiles further the green movement, too, and Rustigian offers these as well, in rich colors ranging from blonde to coffee bean, for those who relish the look of sunlight cutting a bare floor.
